Seen a few creators shocked and appalled by the influx of folks trying to get their hands on NFT marketplace invs — is this at all a surprising development? You made an invite-only path for digital artists to monetize, now you're pulling up the ladder behind you?
Am I misunderstanding this? If cryptoart is truly the utopic vision of accessible digital ownership it's been purported to be, shouldn't it stand up to the test of a rapidly-growing community of artists without big Twitter followings just trying to get paid?
This kind of "there's only enough room for us" behavior is part of what puts people off of the cryptoart boom, IMHO. You either believe in the dream of enabling artists to get paid or you? Don't lol ?
I am still trying to stay optimistic on this mvmt, cause the people that I saw get on the boat early are people whose opinions I've historically seen to be very well-reasoned, and I value highly. If I'm missing the mark I would like to understand this better.
